At Ridgway Cars in Romsey, we provide practical car servicing, maintenance checks and selected vehicle-care treatments for all makes and models. Whether your vehicle is due an interim or full service, needs a condition check, or could benefit from a carefully selected maintenance add-on, our team will explain the options and agree the work before it begins.
Our focus is on clear advice, correct vehicle specifications and proportionate recommendations. We serve customers across Romsey, Southampton, Stockbridge, the Test Valley and wider Hampshire.

Interim Servicing
An interim service provides essential maintenance between full services and is particularly useful for higher-mileage vehicles, frequent short journeys or drivers who want additional reassurance during the year. It normally centres on an engine oil and oil filter change, supported by key safety and condition checks.
Our team will use the vehicle specification and service history to recommend the appropriate work, then explain any developing wear before additional repairs are authorised. This service helps maintain reliability without replacing the more comprehensive annual full service.
Full Servicing
A full service is a comprehensive maintenance appointment for vehicles due their annual or mileage-based service. It combines an engine oil and filter change with a wider inspection of important mechanical, safety and wear-related items, using the manufacturer schedule and the vehicle’s condition as the guide.
You will receive clear advice on any items that require attention, with no additional work completed without approval. A regular full service supports long-term reliability, provides a useful record of vehicle care and can help identify emerging issues before they become more expensive.
Hydrogen Carbon Cleaning
Hydrogen carbon cleaning is a non-invasive maintenance treatment designed to help reduce light carbon and soot deposits that can build up within a combustion engine over time. It may be suitable for selected petrol, diesel and hybrid vehicles, particularly those used regularly for short or stop-start journeys.
Some drivers may notice smoother running or improved response where carbon build-up was a contributing factor, but results vary. The treatment is not a guaranteed repair for warning lights, blocked DPFs, EGR faults, turbocharger problems or failed components, and our team will recommend diagnosis where this is the correct first step.
Vehicle Health Checks
A vehicle health check is a focused inspection of key safety, maintenance and condition items. It can be useful before a long journey, after purchasing a used car, when a vehicle has been used less frequently or whenever you would like a clearer picture of its current condition.
Our team will highlight urgent issues, items to monitor and routine maintenance that may be approaching. The check provides practical information and peace of mind, but it does not replace an MOT, manufacturer service or fault-specific diagnostic investigation.
Engine Flush
An engine flush is a pre-oil-change treatment designed to help loosen sludge, varnish and old oil residue within the lubrication system. It may be considered where service history is uncertain, oil changes have been delayed or the engine shows signs of contamination that the technician believes can be treated safely.
The treatment must be followed by an oil and filter change using the correct specification. It is not suitable for every engine and will only be recommended after an appropriate assessment; it cannot repair mechanical wear, low oil pressure or an existing engine fault.
Fuel System Treatment
A fuel system treatment is added to the fuel system to support the cleaning of light deposits around injectors and related components. It can be a useful preventative add-on during routine servicing, particularly for vehicles used mainly on short journeys or in stop-start traffic.
The treatment may support smoother operation where light deposits are present, but it is not a substitute for diagnostic testing or the repair of faulty injectors, pumps, sensors or emissions components. We will advise whether a treatment is appropriate for the fuel type and symptoms described.
Battery Health Check
A battery health check measures the condition of the vehicle battery and, where appropriate, reviews charging-system performance. It is especially useful before winter, after a period of low use, when starting has become slower or when the battery is several years old.
We will explain whether the result indicates a healthy, weak or replacement-level battery and quote for any agreed work. Some modern vehicles require battery registration or coding after replacement, which will be assessed and priced separately where applicable.
Headlight Restoration
Headlight restoration improves lenses that have become cloudy, yellowed or lightly oxidised. The process can improve the appearance of the vehicle and may improve usable light output where surface deterioration is restricting the lens.
Our restoration process is intended for suitable plastic lenses and includes a protective finishing stage. Deep internal damage, cracks, water ingress or failed lamps may require replacement or additional repair, which we will identify before proceeding.
Paint Protection Packages
Our paint protection packages are designed to add a sacrificial protective layer to suitable exterior paintwork, helping make routine cleaning easier and supporting the vehicle’s appearance. They are particularly suitable before vehicle collection, after professional preparation or when a recently purchased car is in good condition.
The available protection, preparation and durability will depend on the selected package and the starting condition of the paint. We will explain the expected maintenance requirements and avoid unrealistic claims about scratch, stone-chip or permanent damage protection.
Alloy Wheel Refurbishment Referral
Marked, kerbed or tired alloy wheels can affect the appearance of an otherwise well-presented vehicle. Ridgway Cars can arrange or refer suitable refurbishment work through a trusted specialist, with the recommended repair method based on the wheel finish and extent of damage.
We will provide a quotation before work is authorised and explain any practical limitations. Cracked, badly buckled or structurally damaged wheels require specialist assessment and may need repair or replacement rather than cosmetic refurbishment.Refresh tired or marked alloy wheels. We’ll refer you to our trusted refurbishment specialist.
The correct interval depends on the vehicle, mileage and manufacturer schedule. As a general guide, an interim service may be appropriate every six months or 6,000 miles, while a full service is commonly completed every 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first. We will advise you using the requirements for your make and model.
We can service vehicles in line with the applicable manufacturer schedule and use appropriate-quality parts and procedures. Please speak to our team about the requirements for your particular vehicle and warranty.
Flexible drop-off and collection may be available by prior arrangement. Please contact our team before your appointment so that suitable arrangements can be confirmed.
